Creating a Global Network of Placemaking Leaders

PlacemakingX is a global network to accelerate placemaking as a way to create healthy, inclusive, and beloved communities. Launched in Placemaking Week Europe in June 2019, I helped build the organization from its start.

The ideas at the heart of PlacemakingX were incubated at Project for Public Spaces throughout decades of collaboration with community activists. In 2013, Project for Public Spaces launched the Placemaking Leadership Council to strengthen placemaking as an international network. Since then, we’ve seen an explosion of regional networks, organizations, and events in countries around the world, establishing placemaking as a growing and catalytic movement.

Building on this rich history, PlacemakingX is now an independent program from the Placemaking Fund to work with the doers and deep thinkers at the forefront of the placemaking movement to deliver a model of practice, designed to create collective impact.

PlacemakingX currently formed by 100 leaders and more than 1000 advocates from over 70 countries around the world.

I helped build the organization from its very start, supporting organizational development, long-term planning, network management, communications, and more.
